Insider tips

Avoid the queues

The queues to the Louvre can be daunting. The main entrance, through the Louvre Pyramid, is always the most crowded. An insider tip is using the entrance located in the underground shopping center, Carrousel du Louvre, where you can buy your ticket and pass the security checks free of hassle. If you want to experience the Pyramid, you can always do so on your way out.

Give yourself plenty of time

The museum is gigantic, so it’s essential to make sure you have enough time to see everything you want. The museum is open from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM on most days, and until 9:45 PM on Wednesdays and Fridays. Arrive early, grab one of the free maps at the ticket purchase area, and take some time to plan your visit – it’s worth it!

Watch out for Tuesdays!

Together with a number of Paris’ museums, the Louvre is closed on Tuesdays. Take this opportunity to visit other sights such as the Eiffel Tower or the Arc de Triomphe and come back on another day!

What people are saying about Louvre Museum

★★★★★ One of the highlights of our holiday in Paris thanks to Get Your Guide

A very simple yet hugely beneficial and reasuring process to ensure the success of your visit to Paris. We had an amazingly smooth entrance to the Louvre. The map and brochure was informative, instructive and hugely appreciated as we made our way through this glorious, stunning and inspiring experience. It really should not be missed by anybody who seeks to be enlightened, inspired, stimulated and energised! The wealth of truth, beauty, reality and human endeavour displayed in the paintings and sculptures in this place has been exploited to the full. A truly stunning exhibition of human ingenuity over many centuries.

★★★★★ Knowledgeable tour guide and a DEFINITE line skipping tour!

The guide was very knowledgeable and she showed us all the key pieces of art we’d want to see, plus many others. The background on each piece, of the styles of the time they were made, and the history behind them made this a complete tour. We got to roam the museum on our own after, and see more at our own pace. Definitely recommend if you want a tour of the “highlights” but don’t think you can take a 3 hour tour!

★★★★★ Our Guide made it a great experience for our entire family

I strongly recommend the tour. It provide insight into some of the most popular art work. Our guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable and was able to provide details that intrigued our 9 and 10 year old kids. It allows for the Louvre to be more than a large maze of amazing art, but something that you can walk away from with a feeling of understanding and history. You can always stay after the guide leaves but she touched on some of the wondeful things. Loved it!

★★★★★ Really easy, slick and simple. Good value too
